Community AED Outreach Program

Purpose
Defibrillation within three minutes lifts the chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest to 70%. Local emergency medical services (EMS) typically can’t respond that quickly. That’s why every community needs to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) on hand – at the library, places of worship, the mall, the park – anywhere where two or more people gather.
AED
What We Do
Grand County EMS searches for funds and grants so we can place more AED's throughout the community. EMS on duty crew members also maintain the AED's once they have been placed by checking their operation and battery power at the beginning of every month. EMS also hosts numerous classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED use.
