PERSONAL PROPERTY DECLARATIONS
All owners of taxable personal property are required to file a Personal Property Declaration each year. The declaration must include a complete detailed listing of all machinery, equipment and other personal  property. Please include property description, year acquired and original installed cost. 

The Business Personal Property Declaration form is used for any commercial business. Use this form to declare equipment, tools or furnishings that are
used to operate the business.

The Residential Personal Property Declaration form is used for a residence
that is being rented. Items to be declared on this form are furnishings and appliances that are supplied by the owner.

The Lessor Personal Property Declaration form is used for equipment leased to others. Use this form to declare any leased equipment. This form must include the location of the leased item, as well as description of property,

The Declaration must be signed and dated. Be sure to include your Federal Employer Identification Number or Social Security Number and a phone
number.

The completed forms must be returned to the Grand County Assessor no

later than April 15. These should be mailed to PO Box 302, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO 80451

or brought to the office at 308 Byers Avenue, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO.

A penalty may be assessed to any declaration that is not faxed, postmarked or hand delivered by April 15th. The penalty is $50.00 or 15% of the taxes, whichever is less. A request for extension may be filed for 10 or 20 days. The extension request must be received by April 15th. The fee for an extension is $2.00 per day and must be submitted with the extension request.

 

REAL PROPERTY TRANSFER DECLARATION (TD-1000)
All conveyance documents (deeds) subject to the documentary fee submitted to the county clerk and recorder for recordation must be accompanied by a Real Property Transfer Declaration. This declaration must be completed and signed by the grantor (seller) or grantee (buyer). Refer to 39-14-102(1)(a), C.R.S. The Real Property Transfer Declaration provides essential information to the county assessor to help ensure fair and uniform assessments for all property for property tax purposes. SENIOR CITIZEN PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION
A property tax exemption is available for citizens who were 65 or older as of January 1, and who have owned and lived in their home for the 10 years prior to January 1.

An application can be obtained by contacting the Assessor's office at 970-725-3060, or clicking the links below. The deadline to apply for the exemption is July 15. If you already applied for this exemption, you do not need to apply again.

DISABLED VETERANS PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION
A property tax exemption is available for veterens for whom the United States Department of Veterans Affairs has rated the applicant’s service connected disability as 100 percent permanent and total.

The abatement process begins after the tax roll is printed.  The process corrects illegal or
