GRAND COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL AGENDA
MEETING SET FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2018
Hot Sulphur Springs, CO – Wednesday, February 15, 2017-
Tuesday, February 28, 2017 the Board of County Commissioners meeting has three
agenda items that are of special interest and to which necessitate special notice.
(Meetings are held at the Grand County Administration Building, Top Floor,
Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 308 Byers, Hot Sulphur Springs, CO).
First, the BOCC is pleased to have Teresa Lynch and Thom Goff with Mass Economics,
out of Boston, MA joining the BOCC meeting during the morning of February 28th as
they begin their work on the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Economic
Resurgence and Resiliency Plan. Mass Economics will be working with Grand County
officials, leaders and citizens throughout all of 2017 in developing this plan.
Second, please remain in the BOCC meeting, on February 28th, from 11:00 AM until
noon, as Colorado State Demographer, Elizabeth Gardner, will be providing a current
demographic and economic profile of Grand County as well as key employment, labor
force and population trends we are forecasting to impact the county. The State
Demographer will spend some time discussing Henderson mine and its impact on the
employment and labor force in the region.
Finally, in the afternoon at 1:30 PM, the BOCC will be conducting a Short Term Rental
(STR) Workshop. The goal of this workshop will be to develop a step-by-step guide to
adopting simple, sensible and enforceable regulations that adequately incorporate the
concerns of all relevant stakeholders and to develop best practices for STR regulations.
Discussion on timeline and processes will be discussed, along with the possible hiring
of outside contractors for assistance in implementing and monitoring policy compliance.
