 Role in County Government:
The fundamental mission of this department is to
ensure
that the County Information Systems are
adequate in design and are reliable in functionality to
accomplish the day to day business and statutory
requirements of the general fund departments of the
County.
Duties and expected services provided by the Department of Information Systems:
Planning and Procurement of department and enterprise wide Information Systems.
The Department of Information Systems works directly with the BOCC, Elected Officials, Department Heads and Deputies to determine the information system resources required in meeting the statutory and regulatory requirements of each department. The required resources of equipment, software and expertise are identified and a technical plan is designed to match the specified goals.
Implementation: of new information systems and equipment. The Department of Information Systems works directly with general fund county departments to coordinate the required integration of existing county IS infrastructure, conversion format issues, purchasing and scheduling. Consultants and other expertise is involved where needed and an installation plan is prepared.
Equipment purchasing is through the Department of Information Systems with delivery and installation being the responsibility of the Department of Information Systems.
The Department of Information Systems prepares annual and five-year budget projection plans reflecting anticipated equipment replacement and system upgrade needs on a countywide basis.
Service, repair and support of county owned information systems.
The Department of Information Systems serves as:
First line of support for equipment, off the shelf software applications, operating system and network use and installation.
The Network Administrator for all county systems and maintains the entire network infrastructure.
Mans and responds to "Help Desk" type support.
The Department of Information Systems works with consultants and support services of "specialized software applications" to solve operational problems involving county owned equipment or integrated systems.
The Department of Information Systems manages Internet connectivity and E-mail accounts and is the Webmaster for the county's website.
The Department of Information Systems is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all county phone system.
