As part of the land-grant university system established by Congress in
1914, our mission is “to provide information and education and
encourage the application of research based knowledge in response to
local, state and national issues affecting individuals, youth, families,
agricultural enterprises and communities of Colorado.
The Colorado State University Extension Office is Grand County’s front
door to Colorado State University. The Extension program in Grand
County is a partnership between Grand County and Colorado State
University, which
enables individuals to have access to programs in
agriculture and 4-H/Youth. Colorado State University Extension provides
information and education and
encourages the application of research
based knowledge in response to
local, state and national issues affecting
individuals, youth, families,
agricultural enterprises and communities in
Colorado. The youth
development program administered through the
Extension Office is the 4-H
program. Research-based information facts
sheets are available on 20
different subject matters through Grand
County Extension. County
residents may have their questions
answered; problems diagnosed and
connect with CSU specialists for
specific information. |

International Four-H Youth Exchange
Participants in the International Four-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) enhance the 4-H program through educational international, cross-cultural experiences that enable young people to improve their leadership and communication skills, while increasing their international awareness and understanding.
2009 IFYE Representative Alanna Garnette Weber (Colorado to Switzerland) returned in December 2009 from six months in her host country. Alanna is available to share her international experiences at schools (language, history, geography classes, general assemblies, grades 3-12), service organizations, churches, 4-H clubs, etc., in Grand County March 1-3rd, 2010.
Alanna is 21 years old and is currently enrolled at University of Colorado Springs as a freshman with a major in Business and a Minor in History. She grew up in southeastern Colorado on a farm and was a 9-year 4-H member in the sheep project. Her special study interests are Agriculture, history, politics and business. Her leisure interests are outdoor activities, games, sports, decorating, driving, traveling and meeting new people. Please contact Grand County Extension to schedule.
