Civil Union and Marriage License

A
civil union or marriage license may be issued in any county in
Colorado and used in any county in Colorado. The 2 steps to obtain
your license in Grand County are outlined below.
FIRST: Complete the application in person at the Grand County
Clerk and Recorder's Office located in the Grand County Administrative
Building at 308 Byers Avenue in Hot Sulphur Springs. Regular office
hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday.
SECOND: Obtain the license in person at the Grand County Clerk
and Recorder’s Office located in the Grand County Administrative
Building at 308 Byers Avenue in Hot Sulphur Springs. Both parties
must present a valid government issued form of photo ID. The license
will be issued over the counter and is valid for 35 days- including
the date of issuance – for use anywhere in the State of
Colorado.
RESTRICTIONS: There are restrictions to the issuance of civil
union and marriage licenses, including but not limited to matters
concerning age, blood relationship, marital status, union status
or guardianship status. If one party can not appear due to illness
or incarceration, he or she must complete an Absentee Application.Please
note that a civil union license may be issued to any couple while
a marriage license may only be issued to male-female couples.
