Planning and Zoning Services are responsible for reviewing land development proposals and providing recommendations to the Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Board of County Commissioners. All development proposals are evaluated against the county’s master plans and the applicable Grand County Land Use Regulation.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing staff recommendations regarding land use proposals within the unincorporated portions of Grand County and issuing a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment hears and decides on appeals taken by any person aggrieved by his inability to obtain a building permit or by the decision of any administrative officer or agency based upon or made in the course of the administration or enforcement of the provisions of these regulations. Appeals to the Board of Adjustment may be taken by any officer, department, board, or bureau of the county affected by the grant or refusal of a building permit or by other decision of an administrative officer or agency based on or made in the course of the administration or enforcement of the provisions of the Zoning Regulations.

Board of County Commissioners
After receiving a recommendation from the Planning Commission, the Board of County Commissioners then makes a final decision on matters regarding Planning & Zoning.
