Environmental Spill Reporting

General

For all hazardous substance incidents, your local emergency response agencies must be notified immediately:

1) Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Spill Hotline: 877-518-5608 

2) Grand County Communications: 970-725-3311

Releases to water

A release of any chemical, oil, petroleum product, sewage, etc., which may enter waters of the State of Colorado, must be reported to CDPHE immediately. Written notification to CDPHE must follow within five days.

When reporting the event, please have available as much of the following information as possible:

  • Date and time of incident
  • Permit number (if applicable)
  • Potentially responsible party contact name, phone number, and email
  • Description of incident, including location (latitude/longitude, drop a pin on Google Maps, or mile markers, if possible), volume of release, contaminant type (e.g., oil, domestic wastewater)
  • Response actions taken
  • Fish kill observed
