[ARCHIVED] West Grand School District & Grand County Public Health Announcements

Public-Notice-News-Flash---Large

Announcement from Darrin M Peppard, Ed.D. WGSD Superintendent

The West Grand School District has experienced a sharp rise in student and staff health issues, most related to a gastrointestinal Issue or an upper respiratory issue. These health concerns are resulting in high absenteeism for kids and adults alike. While we like to push through cold and flu season, this current bout is highly contagious and spreads quickly. Having as many students and adults out sick has an adverse effect on the learning environment.

As a result of many discussions and looking at our attendance data, West Grand School District will be dosed next Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, in addition to the dates already planned as Thanksgiving break. Beginning Friday. November 22, our schools will be closed for all activities including games and/or practices for our athletic teams. activities, and clubs.

The school will run today, November 21st, through its normal end time. This will give teachers and students the opportunity to finish up today's work. Our buses will run on their normal schedule this evening as well. The district maintenance and custodial staff will use Monday and Tuesday for sanitizing and deep cleaning all surfaces In the district. By taking this unusual step, It is our hope and belief that staff and students will return from Thanksgiving healthy and recharged for the end of the semester.

Thank you for your understanding, please enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday.
