Recently, a bill was passed to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The bill includes $500 million in additional funding for WIC and broad authority to USDA to grant waivers of regulatory requirements through September 30. The bill specifically permits USDA to grant waivers of the physical presence requirement – allowing for remote certifications and deferment of anthropometric and bloodwork requirements. These flexibilities will be increasingly essential as clinics continue to close and WIC adopts new practices to remotely serve participant needs. Learn More.
